Building a Firm Foundation: Why Fogg turns to Impact Fab for Fabrication

The Challenge

Fogg is a manufacturer of bottle rinsing, filling, and capping equipment for free-flowing, non-carbonated liquids for some of the biggest beverage manufacturers and bottle makers in the country. And it is one of Impact Fab’s longest-standing partners. In fact, our Founder, Dave Haan, used to work at Fogg as a fabricator almost 40 years ago.

Fogg’s low to high speed filling and capping equipment help organizations in the distilled spirits, dairy, juice, coffee, and tea markets to scale their operations by automating process. Depending on the product, bottle, cap, and application, Fogg’s fillers can run up to 1200 bottles per minute. But putting together the fillers takes a lot of intricate parts and components, especially when it comes to its custom products. Which is why Fogg partners with Impact Fab.

The Solution

Over the past decade, we have developed a strong relationship with Fogg, and in turn, a great process. Together, we use our Design for Manufacturing process to study the project, understand the tolerances so each part fits together, choose the appropriate materials, and the right process to make the part.

But for projects like filling machines, where we usually fabricate bases and enclosures, this involves leveraging our water jet cutting and welding expertise to reduce production costs, improve product quality, and accelerate time to delivery.

The Results

Since we began our partnership, we’ve been named Fogg’s Preferred Vendor. Over the past 15+ years we’ve worked with Fogg we have delivered:

  1. 1,000+ purchase orders
  2. More than 25 bases
  3. More than 20 enclosures
  4. Increased fabrication capacity, allowing more machines delivered on a faster timeline

What Fogg had to say about Impact Fab

We got some vendors where you have to check in on it every couple of weeks, make sure they’re on schedule, and make sure that it’s going well. With Impact Fab, you just send it over, and they take care of it. They’ve never said we can’t do it.

If other ProMach companies were asking, I’d say they’re a great shop but I don’t want you to use up all their time, so I can’t use them. But really they’re a great group of guys, good company and if you tell Ross or Brad that I gave you their number, they’ll take good care of you.
